At Spout Education, we offer different approaches depending on your child’s needs and the tutor you choose to work with.
1. Orton-Gillingham Tutoring
Offered by Katia Sutherland
Explicit, structured, and multisensory literacy instruction using the Orton-Gillingham approach. This method is highly effective for students with dyslexia and significant difficulties in reading, writing, and spelling.
This service is a good fit if your child:
Has been diagnosed with dyslexia or a reading/writing difficulty
Is struggling in school despite working hard
Needs support in English or French literacy
2. Play-Based Structured Literacy & French Support
Offered by Katia Sutherland and Chantal Doiron-Widgery
Engaging, game-based structured literacy support that builds strong foundational skills in a fun and interactive way. Chantal brings extensive experience as a French resource teacher and uses EMS (Enseignement Multisensoriel Simultané), a multisensory structured literacy approach adapted from Orton-Gillingham principles for French.
This service is a good fit if your child:
Benefits from a warm, playful, and interactive approach
Needs support with dyslexia, dysorthographia, or dyscalculia
Is in French immersion or needs support in French literacy
Struggles with early literacy or number concepts
3. Math Remediation
Offered by Katia Sutherland and Chantal Doiron-Widgery
Targeted support to build number sense, conceptual understanding, and confidence in mathematics. Lessons are adapted to each child’s learning style and pace.
This service is a good fit if your child:
Is falling behind in math
Struggles with number concepts or dyscalculia
Needs support building confidence and foundational math skills
4. Educational Consulting
Offered by Katia Sutherland
Focused, expert guidance to help families understand assessments and advocate effectively for their child.
This 60-minute session can include:
Review of psychoeducational assessments, IPPs/IEPs, and accommodations
Strategic planning and school advocacy recommendations
Guidance on navigating public, independent, or French school systems
